Time on Water by Robert Gibbons

Weather irrelevant. Or is it? TV meteorologist says Boston Harbor, without wind for twelve hours, is at dead calm. Charles Olson equated the god of weather with the god of hell. Today I'll be in touch with people in NY, New Zealand, London, Sydney, DC, Pittsburgh, Providence, New Mexico, & as much as I care about them, their safety & well being, I can guarantee I won't ask them about the weather. At State Street Meeting House on the corner of Washington & Milk, Nivea arranges the oranges, the grapes, Ava, the tulips & birds of paradise, as if Boston without wind in March were tropical. Spring is exactly a week away, with the Ides & the Irish in between. I try to keep my calendar open as the moment.
